Bush or Bushy:
A mass of stems and leaves.
Deciduous:
Plants that lose their leaves for only a time of year as part of its continuous life-cycle.
Erosion Control:
The action of controlling your topsoil from wearing away by the natural physical forces of water and wind or through forces associated with gardening activities.
Evergreen:
A plant retaining its leaves throughout the seasons of the year.
Hardy Zones:
Agricultural Research Service (ARS) under the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has created a U.S. color coded map which gardeners & growers can use to determine which plants are most likely to thrive at a location. Each color is identified with a number from 1-13 alongside a letter between A & B. The map has been named 'USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map.' The practice of maintaining bushy plants in defined shapes by clipping the foliage and stems.
